El Hierro Craft Interpretation Centre

This centre traces the history of iron craftsmanship in the municipality of Boal and its commercialisation, a major industry that flourished throughout the 18th and 19th centuries. Housed in the former school buildings, dating from the early 20th century and funded by emigrants from the municipality who had moved to Havana, the exhibition features tools typical of blacksmith’s workshops and forges (nails, hammers, etc.) that remained in use until the mid-20th century.
