The Pre-Romanesque Museum is located in the village of Santianes (Pravia), next to the Pre-Romanesque Church of Santianes.
Info
The Museum occupies the former Rectory House and was designed to exhibit the valuable pieces found in the excavations of the church carried out by José Menéndez Pidal in 1975.
These pieces (including the famous "Labyrinthine Stone of Silo") are considered to be of great value by scholars of Asturian pre-Romanesque art and can be seen here for the first time since their recovery.
In addition to the original pieces, the Museum has an audiovisual presentation on the Asturian monarchy in Pravia, a model of the primitive church and a photographic mural of the pre-Romanesque churches of Asturias.
