Aula Didáctica del Oro

Located in the old prison building, it bears witness to the traditional link between Belmonte de Miranda and gold. The didactic classroom starts from prehistoric times to take a journey through the events that marked the development of the different metal mining operations, and what they meant for the people of the time.

Gold, with its economic and symbolic meanings, its forms of transformation and, more specifically, the evolution of its extraction techniques, forms an inseparable part of the history of Belmonte de Miranda. The Aula del Oro aims to synthesise this imprint on the landscape and memory, from its origins to the present day.
