Muniellos Interpretation Centre

The building of the Interpretation Centre of Muniellos, integrated in the environment, is located on a ledge of the peak of Las Vachinas, 850 metres above sea level, in an old quarry that has been environmentally restored, between the villages of Oballo and Moal, outside the limits of the Integral Reserve.

The exhibition is divided into several rooms:

Room 1. Getting to know the Forest. It has a table with an organic profile with six computers, a rotating platform with reproductions of elements present in the forest and sound equipment, where the visitor interactively tries to identify the most significant elements of the forest.

Room 2. Discovering the forest. It is divided into two sectors. The first, "Observe and listen", recreates a walk through the forest, with large-scale images of the forest and recreations of fauna and flora. The second represents the integration of man in the environment through the typical constructions of the area.

Room 3. A walk through the forest. This is a small projection room, where a film is shown that allows you to see Muniellos from a bird's eye view.

Room 4. Muniellos, Biosphere Reserve. A central model presides over this room, on which a projection system shows the different elements of the reserve in relief.

Room 5. To know more. A small room that allows a more detailed knowledge, through two computers, publications and books.

The entrance to the Integral Reserve of Muniellos is limited to twenty visitors a day and with previous request and authorization of the Principality of Asturias. However, the staff of the Centre can provide information about routes in nearby places as beautiful and well preserved as those that make up the Reserve.
