La Casa del Lobo Interpretation Centre

The Casa del Lobo, located in the old schools of Belmonte de Miranda, has seven thematic areas in which, by means of very diverse resources, the most relevant aspects of this species and the environment in which it lives are reviewed.

Its morphology, habits, where it lives, how it lives, its relationship with humans, the symbolism that accompanies this animal, and the myths and legends are analysed with a very didactic approach.
The visit to the Casa del Lobo is completed with a guided activity in which environmental educators take the group along the Castañal path to the wolf enclosure.

This one and a half kilometre route, which crosses forests of beech and oak trees, runs alongside the river Pigüeña. It takes advantage of the environment to explain aspects of the fauna and flora, and interprets animal tracks and footprints, and ends at the wolf enclosure.

There you will see the inhabitants of the Iberian wolf: Belmon and Aullador. You will learn about their history and the current situation of this species.
