The town of Avilés is a place where history and modernity merge. An estuary where industrial landscape and natural spaces go hand in hand. It is a place of development for the companies that have settled on its banks and is a reflection of the history of this process .From its origins as a salt and fishing port in medieval times, through coal, steel, bulk goods, etc. ,to the present day with the wind industry, zinc, etc. An old riverside shipyard converted into an interpretation centre of the Port of Avilés. Aimed at all those residents and visitors who want to learn about the history of the port of Avilés. To complete the visit, take the daily didactic itineraries on foot, along the right bank promenade, lasting one hour, between San Juan de Nivea and the Peña del Caballo. The Centro de Interpretación de los Cañones Submarinos de Avilés is a space that mediates the artistic representation of scientific contents, with the aim of enhancing the value of one of the most unique places on the Cantabrian coast and, at the same time, the most unknown: the Gran Sima de Avilés. To this end, it has worked to provide visitors with a unique recreation of these underwater canyons due to the creative, communicative, technological and virtual immersion characteristics of the public, using the most innovative interactive image techniques: augmented reality and virtual reality, holograms and 3D models. |
