Penarronda Beach Natural Monument

This fine sandy beach, located between the municipalities of Castropol and Tapia de Casariego, occupies an area of 228,000^m2 divided by the Penarronda stream.

In its western half, the north-westerly winds have created a dune field that shelters a varied flora.

The natural values that have led it to be declared a Natural Monument can be summed up in two facts: it marks the western end of the reduced nesting area of the Eurasian oystercatcher and it is the only locality of sea wallflower(Malcomia Littorea) on the Asturian coasts.
