The River Deva is the most easterly of the Asturian rivers and its mouth forms the Ría de Tinamayor.

Its most important tributary is the Cares River, 50 km long, which crosses the Picos de Europa head-on.
It descends to Poncebos and continues to Arenas de Cabrales, an area of famous cheeses, then enters the Tina Mayor estuary and ends its wide course in the Bay of Biscay.
