It is located in the central area of the Principality, in the Quirós Valley, in the hamlet of "El Llano", made up of a dozen houses and century-old granaries.
The refuge is always guarded and is approximately 461 m. above sea level.
How to get there?
From Oviedo - León - Santander
Take the A-63 towards Grado La Espina, turn off at exit 9 (Trubia), after a roundabout cross the River Nalón and turn left. Take the AS-228 towards Proaza.
Once in Proaza, continue along the AS-228 straight on towards Caranga. Once past Caranga, cross a tunnel that leads to the Valdemurio Reservoir, where you will see a recreational area with a car park next to the road. Continue for about 200 m. and on the left hand side there is a turning indicating Aciera. Aciera is about 400m from the AS-228. At Aciera there is a crossroads on the left where it says Área de Escalada (Climbing Area).
We will arrive at Llano, a small hamlet where the road ends, 30 m. from the car park is the Refuge duly signposted.
From León - Benavente - Madrid - Seville
If you come from the A-66 or N-630 from the central area, take exit number 59 of the A-66 indicating Pola de Lena, go back a couple of km. through the village, to take a detour to the right indicating AS-230 towards Alto de la Cobertoria (1,179 m.). Once at the top and after being amazed by the incredible views of the Ubiñas Massif, we start to descend towards Bárzana (capital of Concejo).
Once in Bárzana we will cross it and continue along the AS-230 road for about 8 km towards Oviedo, once past Arroxo we will see the Valdemurio Reservoir.
We will find a detour on the right hand side indicating Aciera. Aciera is about 400 m. from the AS-228. At Aciera there is a crossroads on the left where it says Área de Escalada (Climbing Area).
