Navelgas
Navelgas hosts the celebration of the Day of the Villages of Asturias, a festival of fraternity in the spirit of the old traditions of the harvest, during which some neighbours helped others, celebrating the good harvests with songs and good food. Each year the Dove of Fraternity, a symbol of solidarity and coexistence between the villages, is given to a new locality.
Each year the Paloma de la Fraternidad (Dove of Fraternity), a symbol of solidarity and coexistence between villages, is awarded to a new locality, and the name of the village that has been awarded is engraved each year on a monolith in the square in Navelgas.
On the Day of the Villages of Asturias, Navelgas welcomes people from all the towns and villages who come to enjoy the folklore groups, the brass bands, the music bands and the most varied gastronomy washed down with cider and peyeyo wine. All this in a spontaneous and anarchic atmosphere where you can contemplate an old-fashioned wheat mallada in the midst of joyful coexistence.
This event has been declared a Festival of Tourist Interest of the Principality of Asturias.
