The river Espasa marks the boundary between the councils of Colunga and Caravia, where this large and accessible sandy area is located.

On the border between the council of Caravia and Colunga we find Playa Espasa and within this sandy area we also find Playa de Moracey, with the Pozu les Pipes and Playa del Visu. This group of beaches communicate with each other at low tide.
As a whole, it is almost a kilometre of fine, tan-coloured sand, with a moderate swell and good facilities...
With many possibilities, La Espasa is ideal for beginners in surfing or to try kite flying.
Like the rest of the council's beaches, it can be seen from the Mirador del Fitu viewpoint, located in the heart of the Sueve mountain range.

It is forbidden to park and spend the night in the car parks and around the perimeter of the beach park of any caravan, motorhome, mixed vehicle or any vehicle suitable for camping.
