Golden sand with history among promenades and Celtic culture
Maleguas beach, also known as Playa del Murallón, is a small urban beach of fine golden sand, with moderate waves and located right on the seafront promenade of Tapia de Casariego. With an extension of 75 metres, it is notable for its easy access and for being adapted for people with reduced mobility.
The sandy area is part of the Natura 2000 Network, within the ZEPA and ZEC areas, which gives it a high ecological and scenic value. At low tide it communicates with the adjoining beaches of Las Furadas, Ribeiría and La Grande.
Some years ago it was easily recognisable by an old wall that crossed it horizontally, an element that gave it its name and a very peculiar character. Nowadays, it forms part of the promenade, which offers good services and infrastructures.
Every August, since 1996, it has hosted the Interceltic Festival, declared of Regional Tourist Interest, making it a meeting point for music, tradition and the sea.
