Gijón Bay, the busiest beach in Asturias
San Lorenzo Beach is probably the best-known beach in Asturias. It is Gijón Bay, one of the most beautiful in northern Spain, bordered to the west by Cerro de San Catalina and to the east by the mouth of the River Piles.
In total, it stretches for one and a half kilometres and is very popular with bathers, boasting excellent facilities of all kinds. The beach has two beach volleyball courts and beach football is also played there (near Staircase 4). Its seafront promenade, stretching for almost three kilometres, is a particular highlight.
Sporting activities on the sand are prohibited between 10.00 and 20.00. Surfboards, jet skis, motorboats and sailing boats, etc., are prohibited in the bathing area.
