Santa María del Mar Beach

A golden sandy cove right in the heart of a tourist village

Santa Maria del Mar Beach, in the borough of Castrillón, is a much frequented, well-equipped urban cove. It is an open cove nearly 300 metres long at the mouth of the River Ferrera.

It has two camping sites nearby and is surrounded by the village of Santa Maria del Mar. As a curiosity, it is worth pointing out that to the right of this beach is an island called La Ladrona (The Thief), with an dark legend that held that a giant squid inhabited its caves.
