Figueras, the pearl of the Eo

At the foot of the Los Santos bridge, its small fishing port offers picture perfect views.  This serene and privileged village has a long tradition of fishing and canning, weakened in favour of today's major industry, shipbuilding, whose first references in this enclave go back to the 17th century.  Its steep streets serve as a transition between the seafaring houses, in the lower part of the town, and the more affluent part, in the watchtower.

It gives views of the charming port (a centre of social and economic life and surrounded by small coves), the building of the Cofradía de Pescadores (Fishermen's Guild), the Clock Tower and the San Román Chapel, built in the 19th century at the expense of the Fishermen's Guild.  Use the trip to see Pardo Donlebún Palace and the Peñalba Palace, built at the beginning of the 20th century by the military architect Ángel Arbex, one of Gaudí's disciples, which integrates Art Nouveau into Indianos style architecture.

Figueras could well be considered the pearl of the Eo because this charming little port that bathes in this estuary, a natural border between Asturias and Galicia, has all the ingredients of a real jewel.
It is sunny and bright, like in a story, and the possibilities for water sports and the enjoyment of both the estuary and the sea are endless.
In Figueras, everything is a stone's throw away.  It is a peaceful and comfortable place, ideal for relaxing, walking, talking, enjoying the coast, the architecture and, of course, the best seafood cuisine; the aroma of good seafood stew can be fills the air.

The terraces of the port, the palaces with panoramic views, the shipyard, the pontoons that overlook perched Castropol and the immensity of the Eo estuary, the proximity of paradisiacal beaches... Everything in Figueras invites you to let yourself get carried away by the enchantment of a town that will impress you.
