Llastres, with the most beauty in Spain

Set in between sea and mountain, you will soon understand why Llastres is considered one of the most beautiful towns in Spain, a fully-deserved distinction that it holds officially. This former fishing town dedicated to whaling and a fort against possible coastal invasions, was distinguished as an Exemplary Asturian Town, an award that the Princess of Asturias Foundation gave it in 2010.  The Foundation highlighted its peculiar adaptation to the land and the can-do spirit of its inhabitants.

This point on the eastern coast of Asturias is also famous for its inexhaustible fishing activity over centuries, for its excellent seafood cuisine, and for its outstanding beauty.  In the port you will enjoy the fishermen working and the auctioning of fish and seafood that you can later taste in its restaurants and cider houses. From the San Roque viewpoint, in the high part of the town, you will have an unbeatable panorama of the town, the beaches, the Sierra del Sueve mountain range and the Picos de Europa. Precisely from this place you will understand why Llastres is one of the most photographed and filmed places in all of Asturias; the charm of Lastres, its atmosphere of Cantabrian tranquillity is absolutely captivating.
More than one film and television series has been filmed in Lastres. The TV series Doctor Mateo has its own tourist route that runs through the most emblematic places of this very popular Spanish TV show.

Lastres has a spectacular historical centre with cobbled streets, palaces and emblazoned houses that intermingle with the humble fishermen's houses. They all have a common denominator: the sea breeze that constantly caresses them and the splendid panoramic views of the Cantabrian Sea and Sierra del Sueve.  There many enchanting places, magical places: the neighbourhood of the Whalers, the Buen Suceso Chapel, the Clock Tower and Santa María de Sábada Church.

On top of all this, Lastres not only has a harbour but also beautiful beaches, making it an ideal setting for water sports and to enjoy cultural attractions such as the Jurassic Museum, which is in its vicinity, or the dinosaur footprints, which you will find on its coast.
