Wedged between the sea and the mountains, you will soon understand why Llastres, in the council of Colunga, is considered one of the most beautiful villages in Spain, a distinction it officially holds and which it fully deserves.
Moreover, this fishing village, once dedicated to whale fishing and a fortress against possible invasions along the coast, was distinguished as an Exemplary Village of Asturias, an award granted by the Princess of Asturias Foundation in 2010. Precisely then, the Foundation highlighted its peculiar adaptation to the terrain and the spirit of self-improvement of its inhabitants.
So this enclave on the eastern coast of Asturias is famous for its tireless fishing activity for centuries, for its excellent seafood cuisine, and for its unique beauty. In the port you can enjoy the fishermen at work and the fish and seafood auctions, which you can enjoy in its restaurants and cider bars. Furthermore, from the San Roque viewpoint, in the upper part, you will have an unbeatable panoramic view of the town, its beaches, the Sueve mountain range and the Picos de Europa. It is precisely from here that you will understand why Llastres is one of the most photographed and filmed places in Asturias, because the charm of Llastres and its atmosphere of Cantabrian tranquillity is absolutely captivating.
More than one film and television series has been filmed in Llastres, with the television series "Doctor Mateo" acquiring special notoriety, to the point that there is a tourist route that covers the most emblematic places of this popular series.
Llastres has a spectacular old quarter, with cobbled streets, palaces and emblazoned houses that intermingle with the simple fishermen's houses, and all have a common denominator: the sea breeze that constantly caresses them and the splendid panoramic views of the Bay of Biscay and Mount Sueve. There are many charming places: the Whalers' quarter, the Buen Suceso chapel, the Clock Tower and the Church of Santa María de Sábada.
As if that were not enough, Llastres not only has a port but also beautiful beaches, making it an ideal setting for water sports, and for enjoying cultural attractions such as the Jurassic Museum, which is located nearby, or the dinosaur footprints, which you will find along the coast.
