Description -

After paying a "visit" to the Lord in the Cathedral of San Salvador, head north through streets like El Águila, Gascona (famous for its cider taverns), Foncalada (where there is a Pre-Romanesque fountain), etc. You can't get lost as you pass through the city as there are scallop shells on the pavements indicating the Way of St James. Head out of town along Avenida del Mar and Pontón Vaqueros Street, taking the secondary road to the left leading to La Estrecha and Cuyences. A half kilometre away northbound, you come to a path on your right leading to La Granxa, Laviada, La Pedrera and Cayés Bridge over the River Nora. In Campiello, take a very short track that links up with the LL-1 secondary road, near to the industrial estate and La Morgal Aerodrome, which leads to Posada de Llanera, borough capital of Llanera. From here head back onto the road and, after skirting Mount Santofirme, the route heads up to Alto de la Miranda to then head downhill passing in front of the Simplicio spring and AS-17 road. Continue along the LL-9 secondary road, crossing a railway track to then take the path that crosses the River Villar. This is the way into the borough of Corvera, through the villages of La Sota and Solís. You then pass through Cancienes before reaching Nubleo and then El Portazgo, where the Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation is located. After passing through Los Campos, you arrive in Avilés, joining up with the Coastal Route.
