Info
The pieces set into the walls of the church of San Martín are an outstanding example of the artistic skill and decorative richness of the Asturian workshops of the 10th century. Their arrangement in the church, exactly as they were placed during the 15th century reform, together with their faithfulness in full-scale reproductions, highlight their historical and aesthetic importance.
These pieces, which have been declared a National Historic-Artistic Monument since 3 June 1931 by Royal Decree, are witnesses to the final development of Asturian Pre-Romanesque Art. Although they show new influences, they still hold firm to their traditions and explore innovative artistic trends, underlining the dynamic evolution of this artistic period.
Built in: 1980
