The Aula del Oro in Belmonte is an interpretation centre that offers an educational and interactive journey through the history of gold mining in the municipality of Belmonte de Miranda.

Housed in the former prison building, it bears witness to Belmonte de Miranda’s long-standing connection with gold. A journey through the landscape and the historical development of the municipality, with gold and mining – and the processes involved in its extraction from the Bronze Age to the present day – as the central theme.

During your visit to the exhibition, you’ll be able to admire replicas of goldsmith’s pieces from the Castreña period, have fun digging in our archaeology playground (wheelchair accessible), see minerals extracted from the active El Valle-Boinás gold mine, and enjoy a semi-immersive experience.

Mondays and Thursdays: 10 .30 am to 2.30 pm
Friday, Saturday and Sunday: 10 .30 am to 2.30 pm and 4.00 pm to 6.00 pm
Special opening hours: on 24 August and from 27 to 30 August: 11.00 am to 3.00 pm
Closed: Tuesdays , Wednesdays and 31 August

Concession (subject to proof of eligibility: children aged 4 to 11; groups of 20 or more; people with disabilities and the unemployed; large families): €3.50
