Responding to the concern in Asturias for the marine world, this facility provides a complete overview of the various activities, documents, books and images related to seafaring life. A life, which in the present case, exists within the context of industrial activities linked to the sea, such as canning, once a booming industry in the area around Cape Peñas.
In fact, the old Albo canning factory is just a few kilometres from the museum, in the nearby fishing town of Candás. Also very close to Lluanco/Luanco is the Llumeres Mines Historic Site, old iron mines where visitors can still admire the original buildings dating from the 19th century and a small romantic harbour built expressly to transport ore to Gijón/Xixón and from there to La Felguera. Old stories of the sea and the mine, whose imprint is always a pleasure for the visitor in search of hidden treasures.
