Asturias Maritime Museum

This facility, whose existence responds to the interest in the marine world in Asturias, provides a complete overview of the different activities, documentation, bibliography and images of maritime life. A life, which in this case, is contextualised in an area of industrial activities linked to the sea, such as the canning industry, once very strong in the region of Cabo Peñas.

In fact, a few kilometres from the museum, in the neighbouring fishing village of Candás, is the old Albo canning factory. Also very close to Lluanco/Luanco is the historical site of the Llumeres mines, old iron mines, where you can still see the original buildings, dating from the 19th century, and a small, romantic port that was built 'exprofeso' to transport the ore to Gijón/Xixón and from there to La Felguera... Old sea and mine history, whose traces are always a pleasure for the visitor eager for hidden discoveries.
