Ibias Palloza Nature Classroom and Interpretation Centre

Although the purpose of the classroom is educational – and it is used by schools and environmental groups, amongst others – it is also open to the general public, as the centre houses a permanent exhibition on Ibias. Through artefacts, stories and displays on view in the classroom, as well as the workshops held there, visitors will discover what life was like in the Asturian villages of the area centuries ago. It is an experience not to be missed.

In the neighbouring building, La Palloza (a structure derived from Castrean architecture and similar to the huts found in the Somedan mountain pastures), recreates what traditional dwellings were like: circular or oval in plan, with masonry walls and rye-straw roofs, showcasing the way of life of our ancestors.
