The permanent exhibition at the Puerta del Mar Interpretation Centre recreates the history of the glass eel fishing industry and the lives of the charcoal makers.

The Puerta del Mar has a permanent exhibition with contents related to the environmental characteristics of the Nalón Estuary and the ethnographic culture of the council.
The importance of the elver and its biological cycle are the focus of much of the exhibition, together with other activities that were one of the economic engines of the area, such as the fish canning factories and the collection of coal from the estuary.
