The Via Carisa Interpretation Centre (CIVICA)

The Vía Carisa Interpretation Centre is located in a setting of great beauty and uniqueness, the valley of the Río Negro (Nembra), in the council of Aller.

Your visit takes you back to another era, specifically to the 1st century BC, when the Asturian-Cantabrian Wars took place, culminating the process of Romanisation of the Iberian Peninsula.

In this context, a road was built, the Via Carisa, which would serve as a means of linking Asturias with the rest of the Empire. Its development was not without its difficulties, both because of the orographic characteristics of the mountain range and the resistance of the Asturian people.

One of the strong points of the centre is the exhibition of replicas of the materials found in the archaeological sites, ancient Roman camps.
