Chapel devoted to sailors
Info
The Chapel of Santa Ana is the place of worship of the patron saint of sailors. Located in the heart of the old quarter of Llanes, its structure has a front portal and single, square nave. Dating from the 15th century, it has an interesting, recently-restored 17th-century altarpiece.
The statue in this chapel is the one that is taken out on the sea procession of Santa Ana. On that day, the statue of the Virgin Mary is carried through the streets of Llanes accompanied by bagpipers and sailors, who sing songs to the beat of tambourines.
