Info
It is in the centre of Asturias and very close to the sea. Water marks its life and its name, which derives from the abundance of streams that run through its soil and subsoil. The river Nora draws part of its orography, and this means that it shares its meanders with the neighbouring council of Oviedo, and that its most important pre-Romanesque monument, the church of San Pedro de Nora, bears the name of this charismatic and historic river. But Las Regueras has, as well as pre-Romanesque, a notable Romanesque style, one of the most outstanding examples of which is the church of Valsera . As well as the Roman baths in Valdunu, which are a true marvel.
Amongst streams and springs, the municipality also has a remarkable palace heritage such as the Palace of Viado in Santuyanu, the capital of a council that is very suitable for hiking and routes, such as the Palacios or Alto de Piedrafita, where there is a tomb necropolis? And if we are talking about routes, we cannot forget the one to Santiago de Compostela, especially taking into account that Las Regueras is one of the stages of the Primitive Way of St. James, and more specifically the one after Oviedo/Uviéu...
Due to its strategic location, Las Regueras is a land of roads, of passage, of battles - the Independence War, the Civil War, etc... - and in its physiognomy there are still traces of some of them...
Population: 1,952 inhabitants.
Surface area: 65.85 km2
