The great plain in the centre of Asturias was and is a key element in the construction of the Principality. Its historical importance is evidenced by the numerous and impressive buildings of medieval origin such as the palace of Villanueva, the castle of San Cucao or the palace house of Villabona. Llanera has had a strong nobility with personality since ancient times, and as a reminder of that time remains the medieval festival of the 'exconxuraos' with a curious history?
As time goes by, Llanera has become a centre of metropolitan services - with important business parks - where it is possible to enjoy a golf course, an aerodrome - La Morgal -, or the 'Fernando Alonso' circuit, which is on its way to becoming a world reference for leisure activities related to motor racing...
On the route of the Palacios or in towns such as Posada, Lugo, etc. Llanera offers good cuisine and good atmosphere, tranquillity or partying, according to the visitor's taste.
