Bear-watching and nature trail

The activity lasts approximately 4 hours and combines an attempt to spot brown bears and other wildlife with a low-difficulty interpretative trail.

During the walk, the guide will explain the habits and behaviour of the brown bear, as well as the characteristics of the various species that may be found in the area. As this involves wildlife, sightings depend on natural factors and the behaviour of the animals, and therefore cannot be guaranteed.

The activity is organised in small groups to offer a more personalised experience.

Suitable for

• Activity for those aged 8 and over.
• Small groups of between 2 and 8 people.

Difficulty and requirements

• An interpretative trail of low difficulty.
• Transport to the observation points is by participants’ own vehicles.
• The journey by car is approximately 8 km along a tarmac road, so it can be undertaken in any type of vehicle.
• Transport is not included.

What’s included

• Accompaniment by 1 local guide during the activity.
• During busy periods, additional guides may be provided.
• An interpretative tour lasting approximately 2 hours.
• Attempt to spot brown bears and other wildlife.
• Optical equipment: binoculars and spotting scopes, with instructions on how to use them.
• Third-party liability insurance and accident insurance.

Meeting point and times

• Meeting point: La Pola Somiedo.
• Morning session: departure at approximately 7.30 am, coinciding with sunrise. The wildlife spotting attempt takes place first, followed by the interpretative trail.
• Afternoon session: departure at approximately 5.30 pm, returning at dusk. The interpretive trail takes place first, followed by the wildlife spotting session.
• Times may vary depending on the time of year.
