The ‘Veranu en Payares’ programme offers a wide range of activities, all free of charge and suitable for all ages. The programme runs from 13 June to 13 September and includes several solar observation workshops and ‘Emboscados’, a dramatised trail through the forest.
The activities take place at the Valgrande-Pajares Winter and Mountain Resort between 13 June and 13 September, and comprise nine different types: hiking, nature workshops, astronomy, yoga, geocaching, adventure trails and immersive experiences, and are held over fourteen full weekends. All activities are free of charge, suitable for all ages and do not require the use of the cable car. Places are limited and can be booked via naturaller.com/veranu-en-payares.
The total solar eclipse on 12 August: the highlight of the season
The highlight of the summer will be the total solar eclipse on 12 August 2026, an extraordinarily rare phenomenon for which Asturias lies within the path of totality. To experience it safely and with the right knowledge, Naturaller has organised a Solar Observation Workshop comprising four preparatory sessions (4, 12, 18 and 25 July), during which participants will learn to observe the sun using approved filters and telescopes, discovering sunspots and prominences, and an explanation of what to expect on the day of the eclipse. The astronomical season is rounded off with two nights of stargazing coinciding with the Delta Aquariids (26 July) and Perseids (23 August) meteor showers.
Two new features for 2026
In addition to the aforementioned solar workshop, the 2026 edition will debut ‘Emboscados’, an experience combining hiking with open-air theatre: guides and actors bring forest creatures, legends and characters from Asturian culture to life at each stop along the route, combining culture, nature and entertainment in a way that is ideal for families.
Something for everyone
The programme is designed to ensure there is something for every type of visitor. Families with children can enjoy geocaching, ethnobotany workshops and ‘Emboscados’, all suitable for children aged 6 and over. Those looking for physical activity will find what they’re after in hiking, the adventure trail and Nordic walking. Meanwhile, yoga in nature, stargazing and the solar workshop are accessible to all, with no physical requirements, making them suitable for older people or those visiting the mountains for the first time.
