Castropol

Castropol hosts the Corpus Christi Flower Carpets festival.

The beauty and charm of these carpets lies in the colourfulness of the flowers, the narrowness of the streets and the care of their authors. It is a complex artisan task that requires designing and measuring the motifs, deciding on colours and materials (flowers picked just before the festival, seeds, shells, stones or coffee grounds), until a tapestry is created on which the Body of Christ passes under a canopy, accompanied by boys and girls celebrating their First Communion.

This event has been declared a Festival of Tourist Interest of the Principality of Asturias.
