Event declared a Festival of Tourist Interest of the Principality of Asturias.
The town of Torazu, in the municipality of Cabranes, hosts the festival of El Carmen on the last Sunday in August.
Its origins date back to 1766 and it has been the largest Ramos procession in Asturias since that year. Its uniqueness lies in the date of celebration, which is different from the traditional day on which this saint is venerated. It is believed to be due to the fact that the villagers agreed to wait to harvest the spelt crop, which is harvested at the end of August, in order to make the bread to be offered to the Virgin, in gratitude for the favours granted.
