Popular tradition places the birth of this festival in the 16th century, making it one of the oldest celebrations in Asturias. Its most unique feature is the livestock fair, the only one of its kind in the municipality of Pravia and one of the oldest in the region, which sets it apart from other "fiestas de prao". In addition, La Ponte preserves a marked rural character with traditional events and shows such as the bolo batiente championship, the dragging of oxen, the ribbon race on horseback and the mass sung in Asturian, always accompanied by bagpipes.
One of the most striking features is its ability to remain alive over the centuries, overcoming vicissitudes and social changes, and still showing today all the authenticity of the most rural Asturias in the incomparable setting of the Arango Valley.
With the passing of time, La Ponte has become consolidated as a festival of all and for all, where tradition, music and coexistence go hand in hand to celebrate the identity and joy of the people.
