This festival was born at the end of the 19th century, being an event of coexistence and popular participation that celebrates the arrival of spring and the end of the Easter fast.
The Bollo is a buttered sponge cake that godparents give to their godchildren on Easter Sunday.
On Easter Sunday, at midday, and on Easter Monday, in the afternoon, a large parade with decorated floats, giants and big-heads, music bands and folkloric groups goes through the streets of the town.
On Easter Monday, a large open-air lunch is held in the streets of the old town and the city's parks. Along the streets of the old town, in a continuous row of tables more than four thousand metres long, an average of twelve thousand people sit down to share conversation and meals prepared at home or ordered from restaurants. The youngest people choose the city's parks to celebrate their meal, using the grass as a table and seat.
