Event declared a Festival of Tourist Interest
The village of Insierto, in the Mierense Valle de Cuna, hosts the Pilgrimage of the Holy Martyrs of Valdecuna, in which the pilgrims go up to the hermitage of the Martyrs San Cosme and San Damián, where after mass they take part in the ramu auction, followed by a picnic.
The festival, which has deep historical roots, combines religious fervour with the recreational aspect of the popular Asturian jiras and pilgrimages. The religious part of the festival begins nine days before the big day, when the novena begins, to which many devotees of the Holy Martyrs come to pray for health for all.
