Avilés celebrates Antroxu, which is the name used to describe Carnival in Asturias. It is the time of costumes, charangas, parades and parades. The Antroxu in Aviles enjoys well-deserved fame and it is especially the well-known Descent of Galiana, which is one of the highlights of this celebration.
During these days, the historic quarter of the city is transformed into a playful habitat, serving as a stage for locals and visitors to fill its streets and meeting places with the imagination of their costumes, the collective spirit of fun and the mystery of what lies behind the masks.
On Monday and Tuesday of Carnival, the Menús de Antroxu Gastronomic Days take place. In different restaurants in the city you can enjoy lunch or dinner with the most unique products of these dates: Asturian stew, a selection of gochu compango, tripe, stuffed potatoes and the most traditional Asturian pastries with frixuelos and bollines.
