Slate and quartz on a beach carved out between headlands
Castelo Beach, in El Franco, is one of the coves carved out by the series of headlands that define the municipality’s outline. Shell-shaped, it consists of quartzite gravel, with slate and quartz being the predominant materials.
With strong waves, it is a narrow strip 400 metres long with access for both pedestrians and vehicles, and there is a rest area with car parking nearby. It is the largest beach in the municipality and has a lifeguard and rescue service during the summer season.
It is situated in the village of Castello.
