A beach for leisure and sport right in the heart of the city
Poniente Beach is an artificial beach created in the mid-1990s which has become a hub of activity, particularly during the summer months. Located in the Gijón/Xixón marina area, it occupies the site of former shipyards.
Its waters, which consistently fly the green flag, are ideal for beginners to water sports and for children to swim. It also features a children’s play area situated right on the sand. It attracts large numbers of visitors and boasts excellent facilities.
Sporting activities are prohibited on the beach from 10.00 to 20.00. Surfboards, jet skis, motorboats and sailing boats, etc., are prohibited in the swimming area.

From 1 May to 15 October
- 1 to 21 May: weekends and public holidays from 11.30 am to 7.00 pm
- 22 to 31 May: daily from 11.30 am to 7.00 pm
- 1 June to 15 September: daily from 12:00 to 20:00
- 16 September to 15 October: daily from 11.30 am to 7.00 pm
