Info
The capital of Navarre is a world reference for natural cider, and since the sixties of the last century, its cider festival, declared of National Tourist Interest, has strengthened the cider tradition and elevated its ritual to universal status. This is undoubtedly the most powerful reason why the Cider Museum, one of the first interactive museums in Asturias, is located in the capital of the council. The surrounding area offers monuments and landscapes to satisfy the aspirations of the most restless. There is the medieval palace of La Cogolla or La Ferrería, whose walls saw Doña Jimena, the wife of El Cid Campeador, grow up. When it comes to landscape, Nava is a paradise for rural and mountain walks, always with the backdrop of the imposing Sierra de Peñamayor, where in the early autumn you can enjoy the spectacle of the bellowing of the deer.
But Nava is much more: excellent cheeses such as Ovín cheese, handicrafts, bolos, llagares and espichas... There is no doubt that gastronomy and festivities are two of the strong points of this always welcoming and lively municipality in the Cider Shire.
Population: 5,599 inhabitants.
Surface area: 95,81 km2
