Cider and its festival, cider mills, cider banquets, ancient mansions, the shadow and legend of Doña Jimena, Peñamayor Range, the mating calls of stags, hills and trails. That's Nava... a surprising and friendly cider shire

The borough capital is a worldwide reference in terms of natural cider and, since the early 1960s, its cider festival (declared of National Tourist Interest) has bolstered the cider tradition and raised its ritual of pouring and sharing to a universal level. This is undoubtedly the most telling reason why the Cider Museum - one of the first interactive museums in Asturias - is located in the borough capital. The surroundings of this town offer monuments and scenery that fulfil the aspirations of even the most restless of travellers. There are medieval constructions, Cogolla Mansion and La Ferrería Mansion, whose walls bore witness to the childhood of El Cid's wife, Doña Jimena. As regards landscape, Nava is a paradise for country walks and hiking in the hills, always with the backdrop of the imposing Peñamayor Range, where during the first days of autumn you can enjoy the spectacle of the berrea/i> or mating calls of stag deer.

But Nava is much more: excellent cheese like Ovín, crafts, skittles, cider mills and espichas, i.e. informal cider banquets held in a cider mill ... Gastronomy and festivity are two of the strong points of this ever welcoming and lively cider town.
