Info
This complex, easily accessible and located a few kilometres from the town of Buelna, is of great scenic, geological and educational value, which is why its conservation is so important.
The first of these depressions is Cobijeru Beach, which is approximately 50 m long and 30 m wide, and which has the peculiarity of being isolated from the coastline, being one of the few inland beaches in the Principality.
Just a few metres away is the Cueva de Cobijeru cave, the beginning of which is on land at a higher level, and ends on the coast at sea level. Along the route, which is barely 230 metres long, we find different formations, stalactites, stalagmites... offering visitors a unique spectacle in nature.
Getting to the Cobijeru Cave is very easy. To the right of the beach and after a short climb you will find the entrance. The first part of the route and the access (about 8 metres) is quite narrow and difficult. Afterwards, the path is easy to follow.
If we access the cave we must be cautious, and follow a series of recommendations such as: carry a torch, access at low tide, be careful where we step, do not approach until the last stretch of the fall to the water as the tides are unpredictable and a blow from the sea can drag us with terrible consequences, and of course, take care of the environment respecting and maintaining the area properly.
The complex is completed by a large stone arch over the sea known as Puente Caballo (Horse Bridge), and by a bufón (a kind of jester's bridge) that slopes obliquely towards the beach.
