This is the largest known coastal peat bog in Asturias, with an area of approximately 27 hectares. This type of formation has been declared a priority habitat and its flora includes various species protected by regional legislation. It forms part of the Protected Landscape of the Western Coast.
The interest of this area is not only the vegetation that forms here, but also the peat bog itself, as these ecosystems are much more common in mountain areas.
