The town of Sotrondio celebrates the Turnip Festival.
Restaurants and cider houses in Sotrondio and the surrounding area will offer the traditional menu, consisting of turnip stew - a classic of local cuisine dating back to the 1970s and based on a local product that is plentiful in the autumn months: turnips, simmered and accompanied by top quality compango (chorizo, black pudding, bacon and pork) - followed by tripe and casadielles (casseroles).
The gastronomic days include a festive programme organised by the Sociedad Cultural y de Festejos San Martín de Tour with the collaboration of the Town Hall. There will be parades, a vermouth session, a gastronomic competition, theatre, karaoke, the honey fair, the ceremony of distinction of the "Hijos Predilectos", concerts and open-air dances.
This event has been declared a Festival of Tourist Interest of the Principality of Asturias.
