The church, one of the artistic and religious landmarks of the fishing village, was built in the 18th century. Located in a privileged setting next to the Cantabrian Sea, it has a rectangular nave and flat chancel. Later, in the 19th century, the historicist bell tower was built at the foot of the church, as well as the outbuildings attached to the north wall and the portico on Tuscan columns that surrounds the church.
The materials used in the construction are masonry for the walls, sandstone masonry for the corners, pillars, buttresses, and a red tile roof.
The interior of the nave is divided into four bays divided by splayed arches and covered with a ribbed vault, as is the main chapel. There is a wooden choir at the foot of the church.
It is worth highlighting the wealth of 18th century altarpieces that are preserved in the nave, three on each side and the one in the main chapel which was paid for by the Guild of Mareantes.
