Water and fire, damp earth and green, the elements of nature take shape in Santa Eulalia de Oscos, in a prodigious and beautiful way.. . Santa Eulalia de Oscos is a land of forerunners, and that is what the Marquis of Sargadelos was, a pioneer in the iron and steel and ceramics industries, and his personality and social environment can be seen in his Birthplace Museum. It is also a land of ingenuity, especially hydraulic, taking into account the local talent and the hydrological wealth of the territory. Well, you can 'palpate' these ingenuities in situ in the Ethnographic Complex of Mazonovo, where the traveller becomes aware of the local people's capacity for survival and inventiveness, the same people who are true specialists in the use of the loom or in the art of knives, devices that they make thanks to their skill as 'ferreiros' (ironworkers)?and so the circle of fire and water is closed... Water like that of the Seimeira waterfall, which is part of a route of great beauty, as well as that of the Forcón de los ríos...and both give us the sensation of an immense spring of fire, light and colour that is Santa Eulalia de Oscos, a true paradise of iron that welcomes us in its capital, Santalla, with a sculptural work - a four-metre nail - that symbolises this devotion to iron, and to the traditional trades, given that nowadays cutlery, clay, jet, loom and blacksmithing are activities that make this council a true live laboratory of the Asturias of yesteryear.
