Beach of pebbles and sand, located at the mouth of the river Porcía. El Franco and Tapia de Casariego
Meanders and islets for a different cove
Porcía is a beach of pebbles and sand, with a triangular shape shared by El Franco and Tapia de Casariego. The river of the same name flows into it and serves as a natural boundary for both councils. It is notable for its river meanders and the islets of the Boy.
Easily accessible and with good services, from the beach you can see the remains of an iron ore wharf and several bollards on the rocks for mooring boats. It is very popular, perhaps partly because of its beauty, its golden sands and its particularly calm waters.
In Tapia de Casariego it is accessed via the town of Campos and Salave and in El Franco it is accessed via Valdepares.
Ordinance for pets on the beach:
- The access of pets to beaches and bathing areas is prohibited, with the exception of that which is necessary for the development of activities duly authorised by the competent health authority.
- In the case of abandoned animals wandering on the beaches, their owners shall be responsible for them.
- The presence of guide dogs on the beaches is authorised in the company of the person they serve, without prejudice to the responsibility of their keeper and/or owner or the measures that he/she must adopt to avoid disturbance or risk to other users.
