The house where Antonio Raimundo Ibáñez, Marquis of Sargadelos (1749-1809) was born is now an exhibition space dedicated to the life and work of this industrial and enlightened merchant, who in the late 18th century built in Sargadelos (Cervo, Lugo) one of the first cast-iron foundries and earthenware factories in Spain.
The exhibition highlights the link of this character to his native land, where there has been an important wrought iron industry since ancient times, and seeks to raise public awareness of the conservation of the local cultural heritage.
The Museum is also the headquarters of the Friends of Raimundo Ibáñez Association. The intention of those in charge is to give this birthplace of the Marquis of Sargadelos a life of its own, with the recovery and implementation of ethnological traditions such as gatherings, customs, etc.
It is located in an 18th century house that has been refurbished based on the concepts of that period. It has a ''cocía'', bread oven, living room, viewpoints, granary, forge, wine cellar, laundry, corrada and exhibition room, as well as toilet and spinning machines.
