The museum serves as an analysis and study of the settlers of hill forts

The museum aims to illustrate the origin and evolution of the fortified settlements of western Asturias from the findings revealed by the archaeological research that has been conducted for decades as part of the programme of activities of the Navia-Eo Basin Archaeological Plan.

The permanent exhibition includes pieces mainly from Chao Samartín, but also from other sites in the region such as Os Castros, in Taramundi, and Monte Castrelo de Pelóu.
