Degaña, as someone has already written, is a true hidden paradise. A paradise of hidden landscapes in which beech, oak, holly, bear, roe deer, wild boar and trout appear before the visitor's eyes in its rivers. Such an idyllic panorama could not be more or less than a Natural Park - that of the Fuentes del Narcea, Degaña and Ibias -, declared a Biosphere Reserve. A perfect example of the surrounding beauty is the Cerredo Pass, one of the most attractive passes from Asturias to the Meseta.
The hidden paradise hides in its subsoil important coal reserves that marked its life and development in the 20th century, and its microclimate allows vineyards to grow as in the neighbouring municipalities of the southwest. In short, a pure nature where bees live a peaceful sleep thanks to the goodness of the ecosystem. It is also a friendly human environment where you can still learn about the art of the cunqueiros.
