Jester of Santiuste
- Title Llanes Eastern Asturias
One of the most beautiful natural phenomena declared a Natural Monument.
Info
In times of storm, when a wave enters with force into the perforation created in the rock by karst action, the water rises under pressure and forms a jet, expelling, in addition to water, sand and organic debris, even rocks of considerable size, producing a hissing sound or "bufido", which gives its name to this phenomenon.
Santiuste is considered to be the largest of the bufones on the eastern coast, as it can expel the jet up to a height of 40 metres.
