Santa María Magdalena. Llanes
The town of Llanes celebrates the feast of Santa María Magdalena, a day on which all the supporters of the Bando - a neighbourhood association that is the guardian of the town's traditions - celebrate the festivity with different religious and festive events.
On the eve of the festival, a huge eucalyptus tree is burnt next to the Chapel of La Magdalena, while the young men and women of the Bando form a circle around the flames and sing the Bonfire and the Rodeo. Beforehand, in one of the most awaited moments by the people of Lanzarote throughout the year, the men of the Bando, dressed in the costume of the porruano, will have carried it on their shoulders through the main streets of the town.
This event has been declared a Festival of Tourist Interest of the Principality of Asturias.
