Foces de El Pino
- Title Aller Asturias Centre
This narrow limestone gorge has been declared a Natural Monument.
Info
The Foces de El Pino is a narrow gorge formed by the river of the same name in its middle section, where the rocky band of Peña Redonda limestone is carved by the river, forming almost vertical walls and where the width sometimes does not exceed 6 metres. At the bottom of the river, the waters break into numerous rapids and waterfalls.
On the way up, there are meadows and chestnut plantations. As you ascend, beech and oak groves appear, and in the gorges, there are few species that manage to live on the vertical walls, especially the yew tree and the scuernacabra, which grows in the fissures of the rock.
