The reservoir is a mountain lake of glacial origin, the largest in our region. It is a unique place where virgin and wild nature is reflected in all its extension. In its surroundings we can go on different excursions and enjoy the impressive views.
Bathing is strongly discouraged.

Hydroelectric power

Accessibility conditions are poor, as the roads are marked as dangerous.
The access from Pola de Somiedo is by road, which is currently asphalted, to Valle del Lago. The remaining 6 km have a track with an ordinary floor, which is uncomfortable to drive on when it is dry, and impossible when it is muddy.

The reservoir is inside the Somiedo Natural Park.
